Coming out of the 'online dating closet'...

Hardly a day seems to go by without me hearing of someone meeting someone online. Today was even more extreme because my room mate just got home from a trip home back east - he met with a friend there who recently got married - and he filled him on how he really met his girl. Apparantely a good friend of his made him sign up to date online, relucantly. He thought he was getting spammed all the time from fake women until he actually opened an email up - he actually liked what he saw. So they arranged to meet in a coffee shop (how he claims they met, minus the online part)... and now they are married! Its so funny that even today there is a still a slight stigma attached to admitting to meeting people online. Still, at least its better than 5 years ago when online dating just started - I would never have told anyone I did, let alone make a dating website!

Does anyone else know of anyone who has recently came out the online dating closet? Come on... maybe its even you ;) Let me hear your stories...

MySpace eBook coming soon!

Anyone who hasn't heard of MySpace.com must be living in cave. Its everywhere - go ahead and ask your friends, i'm sure they have a profile on there! But did you know that its actually possible to use MySpace to meet people online for free? I am in the process of writing an ebook on how to this website to meet great people. I will also be covering other great sites that you can use to date for free, like OKcupid.com.

What does everyone think? What other content would you like to see regarding MySpace.com and ways to date online for free? I'm all ears...

Internet Dating of the Future?

What a way to start my blog - my first post is actually a shameless plug! I don't benefit at all from mentioning these guys (they are so new they don't even have an affiliate program!), but I felt like I had to mention this great brand new service...

Last month I got an email from a service called Chemistry.com which said I could use it for free while it was still in Beta. So naturally I jumped on board. It seems to be a Match.com attempt at doing a serious online matching service, like eHarmony.com is doing. This site is really cool and has one of the most fun sign up processes I have seen - it shows you pictures and everything (great for people who get bored with answering long wordy profiles like me!).

It is still in beta, and has some kinks to iron out, but its really cool. It even does the searching for you - each time you login it shows you 5 more matches. Very cool - internet dating of the future?

Enjoy while its still free and in beta testing!

A new dawn...

Many fans of Dating Dr keep asking me when I am going to create my own dating blog (thanks to Mark Hopkins and Leslie Tagorda for being great inspiration in particular!).

Well, thanks to thanksgiving, I have finally had the time to start my own dating blog! Called 'Internet Dating Dirt', I will be making posts about my internet dating experiences and will also be answering any online dating advice questions I receive from you. I will aim to post here at least a few times a week, so keep those eyes peeled - I hope you enjoy! Oh, and happy thanksgiving!
