Looking for Mr. Right on the Internet
Recently I have been riveted by a mystery woman's quest to meet her mr. right on the Internet. She joined Match.com last month, and each day she talks about her experiences - the crazy emails she gets (its a real eye-opener!) and responses to the emails she sends to guys. She experiements with different types of emails, and even experiements with her different profiles she has set up!
Hmmm, maybe I should do something like that to? Anyway, check her great blog out!

Oh, and happy christmas to you all! I am out on the east coast on vacation - looks like it won't be a white christmas here... still, more christmasey than being in 74 degree weather in San Diego!

Any serious internet dater has to read this...
I always like to buy internet dating related books - and with a book name that starts like 'I can't believe i'm buying this book...', well I just had to buy this and see what it was all about. Plus the cover was very cool of course!
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised! This small book (you can read it in one night!) is packed with great information about internet dating - written by a guy who used to be a dating consultant for a dating site. It's actually very funny too! It sums up just why you need a good profile (like I recommend with my profile makeover service!) and how to successfully date online. Kudos to you, Mr. Katz!
It's only $10 bucks on Amazon - thats only half the price of a months dating subscription fee! I don't recommend many books, but this one really hit the 'internet dating' spot. Here's the details... and yes, I make a few pennies on this if you buy it using this Amazon link :)

Match.com gets a 'super duper' member search...
Match.com is getting clever - you can now tag your favorite interests in your profile, so that other people can search for your tagged words! For example, say a woman has tagged the word 'jessica simpson' in her profile, a guy could then do a tag search for that word (not that any normal guy would search for that...) and it would pull up her profile plus others that had jessica simpson tagged.
So basically its a keyword search that brings in extra relevant search. Reminds me of my searches for women on the dating websites for 'the doors', who are one of my favorite bands. Guess what the results would always bring back? A ton of women who liked to do stuff 'out doors'... and any women who writes that they like to do stuff 'out doors' usually means they have a lame profile, so pretty far opposite to liking the doors. ha.

Crazy internet daters sue the big boys!
Wow. Just read today that some very frustrated internet daters have sued two of the big dating sites - Match.com and Yahoo Personals. They are claiming that Match.com sent out fake emails from fake profiles to try and make people stay longer on their membership.
Come to think of it - when I nearly cancelled my match.com free trial once, I was sent this email that seemed too perfect and thought it was fake. Anyone else experienced think they have experienced this?
Yahoo Personals are being sued because of allegations of fake profiles being created to try and make it seem like Yahoo Personals had more members than they actually have. How these people can prove they are fake, I have no idea...
Interesting stuff - can't imagine they will win the cases though!

I'm still amazed...
Wow, its actually cold in San Diego.... well cold for San Diego - its about 45 degrees out. Can't complain though - it seems to be snowing everywhere else in the country!
Anyway, what still really amazes me about the internet dating world is that there are soooo many people out there with truly awful dating profiles. And they wonder why they don't get any dates from it and start moaning about internet dating. Here are my biggest pet peeves:
- People with photos that are a complete turn off, including photos with ex's and people who don't smile.
- People who use absolutely no imagination whatsoever. Cute guy seeks cute girl simply just doesn't cut it.
- Use a spell checker! Nothing worse than poeple who kant spel - makes you seem pretty dumb.
I see these types of mistakes all the time when I am doing dating profile makeovers. Least I am helping make the dating world a better place with my makeoves though! I guess there will always be some people online that just don't get how to make a good profile... just like there will always be people who dress badly ;)
