I'm Back! / Top 5 Ways to Spot a Fake Profile
Don't pass out. Yes, i'm posting again! Firstly, I am sorry. I know its been too long since I've posted. Believe it or not I was actually kind of dating someone for a while, plus I was back east for a little while. But anyway, i'm back!
And my first post back is about something I have been meaning to reveal for a while - how to spot fake profiles on MySpace and even other dating websites like match.com. Don't waste your time emailing these or replying to them, as some of the them could end up spamming you or giving you a virus!
Yep, the clever fake profiles will even email you generic messages, designed to make you give them your real email address or get you to a shady porn website! Look for any of these 5 things, and if you find any of them, they are probably fake:
1: Very little, if any text on their profile, with just a hot photo. If someone is going to take their profile seriously, they are going to have text on it. If you really think its because they are new, check back over the next few days - if there is still no more text = fakey fakey fake fake.
2: Particularly on MySpace, watch out for over-the-top mentions of the word 'sex' and what turns them on. Usually when they do this they will also have dubious links to check out their profiles on other 'websites' which usually take you throught to adult websites. And nope, you never see their good photos - you often just end up with a virus on your machine instead! Don't fall for this!
3: Ridiculously good looking photos. You can bet your bottom dollar they aren't that hot - they probably aren't even real people creating the profiles either!
4: Ridiculously good looking friends on their profile, and not one 'normal' looking person. Surely if they have hot friends, they must be real? Sucker...
5: Lastly, you can tell if they are fake if they reveal all their instant messenger details - I mean, who gives that out on profiles these days, unless you either want stalkers, or want to spam the hell out of someone. Crazier yet, some of these fake profiles even give out their number! Please don't fall for this, no matter how good looking or 'naughty' they sound.
To read more on this, here is a great indepth article about fake MySpace profiles, and even tells you how these fake profiles work, and why people make them!
